the exile of Guyabano from my mothers' diet

I have recently blogged that my mother has been eating guyabano because there was a hype in the internet over its' anti-cancer properties. Recently she has banned this fruit from her diet. The reason being, her blood sugar has risen so drastically that she is now again in one of her "down" periods.

One of the disadvantages of this fruit is that there is no literature to support its anti-cancer property claims. Also, in all my researching I have not found any site that indicated as to how much of the fruit should be taken. Unlike with raw carrot juice where I was able to measure each cup every two hours, there is none to be found on guyabano.

So in all of this hype about this wonder fruit, it seems that it is just a fad. And if this fad has helped some poor farmers, well this may be the only good thing about the guyabano craze.
